The New Hampshire state Senate has voted down a bill to legalise recreational marijuana, with concerns for children’s safety cited on both sides of the aisle as the reason. The measure, which was passed by the New Hampshire House of Representatives last month, would have legalised the possession and use of small amounts of marijuana for adults aged 21 and over, and would have renamed the New Hampshire Liquor Commission as the Liquor and Cannabis Commission. The bill would also have carried a 12.5% tax on cannabis cultivation, and revenues raised would have gone towards substance misuse programmes and law enforcement training.
