The Tip Top, the only strip club in the Emerald Triangle, was a popular spot for those in the cannabis industry in Humboldt before legalization. Customers ranged from “rednecks to hippies, to hippie-rednecks”, and although most were farmers, not all farmers were of the hippie-redneck variety. Many dancers were tipped and paid in flower, and some customers treated dancers as “little bikini-clad therapists.” However, the glory days of the Tip Top are long gone due to legalization and wildfires. The state of the current cannabis market mirrors the success (or lack thereof) of the club. Only two growers are still operating farms in Humboldt, and the regulars of the Tip Top have left the cannabis industry behind them.
